This blog has gone through several iterations. It began as a blog about finding God in stories. I still think you can find the thread of God’s grace in most stories you read.

It then became a review of movies and books, just to keep myself writing while my kids were toddlers. I still find the threads of God’s grace in our media.

Last, it became a way for me to process the deconstruction – and reconstruction – of my faith. I’m still finding the threads of God’s grace in that process, even if they are as fine as gossamer and sometimes hard to decern.

But right now, this blog is…nothing. And that’s ok right now. I have plans to revisit blogging in the future, but I’m also working on other writing projects and posting those on Ao3. (If you’re interested you can find me under the handle XandiLyn. These works are not faith-based.)

I’ve also gone through a lot of personal change. Although I’m still a Christian, I reject a lot of the fundamentalist rhetoric and beliefs I grew up with. I’m healing from a toxic church culture, and sometimes I don’t know what I believe about certain topics.

But stories are right there with me, comforting me and guiding me. Sometimes it’s a random line. Sometimes it’s a whole book. But stories are vital to my lifeblood; and I think it’s time they become vital to everyone. What would this world be if we followed our heroes and lived life the way they did? With compassion, courage, and doing the best we can in dark days.
